Issuing the travel advisory through the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) on the government website, the UK listed sections of the country that its citizens should not visit unless very necessary.

"The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all but essential travel, " reads part of the statement.

The UK in the statement further claimed that the following areas were prone to terror attacks; Garissa County, Lamu County and other areas that are approximately 60km from the border of Kenya and Somalia.

“Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Kenya. There is a heightened threat of terrorism, including terrorist kidnappings, across Kenya," a section of the statement read.

According to the statement, foreigners were likely to be kidnapped or attacked by terrorists.

The UK outlined the following places as being susceptible to the attacks; hotels, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, sporting events, supermarkets and shopping centres.

Three American soldiers were killed during the attack on Manda Bay.
