Nominated MP Maina Kamanda and Youth Affairs CAS Rachel Shebesh have since come out to claim that Uhuru is not in support of Jubilee's McDonald Mariga in the contest.

Instead, they have alleged that he is in favour of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth, though the President has ceased from publicly speaking on the issue.

Speaking on Wednesday, the Jubilee MP urged such elements to cease claiming to represent the President, since he us able to declare his position on his own without relying on them.

He added that the fact that Uhuru publicly endorsed the soccer star at the Nairobi Statehouse is enough proof that he is on his side, which makes any other claim questionable.

"The president is a human being and has a mouth to speak, he is also the one who endorsed Mariga (Rais ni binadamu na ako na mdomo ya kuongea. Hata ni yeye alimvalisha Mariga kofia)," he said.

The lawmaker made the remarks on Radio Citizen's Porojo show on Wednesday night.

He added that Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju's Tuesday confirmation that the party is fully behind Mariga is the other approval that Mariga enjoys the entire party backing.

"Yesterday, the Jubilee Secretary General affirmed the same, leave alone confirming (Hata jana Jubilee Secretary General aliaffirm, hata sio kuconfirm)," he added.

During the interview on Citizen TV's NewsNight, Tuju also said that its wrong for Jubilee members to endorse ODM candidate Imran Okoth as has been seen lately.
