For the second time within a week, Deputy President William Ruto will return to his Rift Valley stronghold, with growing discontent over government on impending evictions.
The DP visited Nandi on Wednesday last week but steered off Mau Forest politics, which have literally brought together warring factions within the expansive region.
On Tuesday, Dr Ruto will be touring Nandi County again, where he will open various health projects. Governor Stephen Sang said the DP will have three functions.
"The Deputy President H.E. Dr William Samoei Ruto will be in Nandi tomorrow to open and commission various development projects. I remain committed to furthering our Transformational Agenda.#TugaTai," he said.
On Saturday, both Ruto and Gideon Moi's allies held and emergency meeting over Mau Forest evictions, accusing the very government they serve of intimidations.
The leaders maintained that those staying at the areas near the forest did purchase the land legally, adding that the government has no authority to evict them.
“We want to make it clear that the people living in Narok South are actually living in a trust land and are genuine buyers of land from titles issued by the government and by no means can they be categorised as forest dwellers,” said Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen.
It remains unclear whether or not DP Ruto will side with his allies on Tuesday over the eviction, with just few hours before the exercise commences.
Environment CS Keriako Tobiko last week said the exercise will go on as planned, insisting that environmental conservation is not a choice.
