Mwala sub county police commander Ronald Kirui told journalists that the man's head was cut off.

He said that the man had deep cut wounds on his body.

"His body was discovered by members of the public who raised alarm. He was lying by the roadside at Kyawango-Maweli road," said Kirui who also noted that it's possible the man was killed somewhere else and his body dumped at the scene.

A blood-stained axe was recovered at the scene.

"We highly suspect the axe was used to kill the victim, also it's possible the murder was committed somewhere else and the body dumped here," Kirui said.

The police boss confirmed that no suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder. He said that investigations into the incident have begun.

He also urged residents who may have information concerning the murder to report to the nearest police station.

The body was picked and taken to Machakos Level Five Hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting post moterm.
