Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma is expected to get back to the National Assembly with answers regarding Mwende Mwinzi's nationality status in ten days.
She was on Thursday summoned before the Committee of Implementation, where she was expected to explain if the person in question has relinquished her US citizenship.
This was after it was found out that Mwinzi, who had since been nominated as Kenya's envoy to South Korea holds both Kenyan and US nationalities.
During the approval of her nomination in June, it was agreed that she will have to renounce her foreign citizenship, which the committee sought to find out from Juma on Thursday.
The committee Chair and Narok North MP Moitalel Ole Kenta said that her (Mwinzi) ongoing training before she officially takes the job has been halted until Juma produces a response within ten days.
This was after the CS revealed that Mwinzi is yet to officially take over as the new Kenyan envoy to the Asian country.
This was despite Juma's agreement that she is fit for the job save for her citizenship, in reference to her vetting approval, adding that the ministry was keenly handling the matter.
