Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi now claims funds meant for the construction of Kimwarer dam project was channelled to politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto-led Tanga Tanga group.
Reacting after Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen protested cancellation of the Sh22.2 billion project, Atandi said the government should act swiftly to ensure all the monies lost are recovered.
He claimed Murkomen, the Senator of the County where the dam was to be constructed, and other allies of the DP were beneficiaries of the multi-billion scandal.
The ODM MP asked the Senate Majority Leader to be prepared since the government was coming for him together with others, including the contractor Italian firm CMC Di Ravenna.
"The Government must recover all monies paid to Di Ravenna, which were consequently Channelled to Tanga Tanga politicians n brokers. Get ready sir," Atandi tweeted on Thursday night.
He was responding after Murkomen reiterated that President Uhuru Kenyatta was misled to cancel Kimwarer and to scale down the Arror dam projects.
"The only winner in the cancellation of Arror and Kimwarer dams is CMC Di Ravenna who will reap billions of money from breach of contract. I can’t watch the Head of State misadvised and keep quiet. Kenyans will remember me for this when the noise is over and the dust settles," the Senator tweeted on Thursday.
Uhuru suspended the multi-billion project after a technical committee he appointed and was chaired by Infrastructure Principal Secretary Paul Maringa found out it was not economically viable.
Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, who is also allied to Tanga Tanga faction, has asked Uhuru to ensure all those linked to the scandal are brought to book.
"It is important that our President also reveals to us the cancellation cost and the action he intends to take against ALL the officers in his administration who initiated this mess," Cheruiyot said.
