A section of Kisii County leaders has mourned Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso.
The leaders led by Kisii Governor James Ongwae eulogised Laboso as a strong leader.
"Shocked by the sad news of the passing on of my colleague H.E. Hon. Dr. Joyce Laboso, the Governor of Bomet county after a long illness. A strong leader and pioneer woman Governor from the Lake region economic block. My heartfelt condolences to the Laboso family, relatives, friends and the residents of Bomet County. Rest in peace," said Ongwae.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi described the governor as a diligent and selfless servant of the people.
"It is with a deep sense of sadness and loss that I have learnt of the untimely death of Bomet County Governor Joyce Laboso. Laboso was a diligent and selfless servant of the people with virtues that saw her rise from a Secondary School Teacher, a University Lecturer, a Member of Parliament (Deputy Speaker) and Governor," said Maangi.
Former Kisii County Woman Representative contender Doris Aburi condoled with the family saying cancer should be declared a national disaster.
"As I convey my condolences to the family of Laboso I challenge the government to declare cancer a national disaster," she noted.
Isaac Motari a Jubilee Party politician based in Kisii County also mourned Laboso terming her death as a big blow to devolution.
"She was a dedicated woman whose death has left many in shock. Let her rest in peace," stated Motari.
