Speaking on Thursday during the flagging off the equity wings to fly beneficiaries, Nakuru Deputy governor Dr.Erick Korir commended Equity Bank for the good gesture in promoting education.

"I must commend Equity bank for the good gesture.As a county we will continue to partner with stakeholders to ensure education to all needy children" he said.

Similar sentiments were echoed by Nakuru County CeC for education Raymond Komen.

The ceremony at the Nakuru old town hall was also attended by Nakuru Town East MP Hon David Gikaria, Nakuru woman Rep Hon Liza Chelule among others.

The 48 beneficiaries of the Equity Wings to Fly Scholarships from Nakuru county will join their colleagues in Nairobi for an address from various leaders before joining high school.

The programme has proved to be transformational as many of previous beneficiaries who are from difficult backgrounds have made it to join Ivy League schools.  

One of the beneficiaries is Lucy Anyango from Kivumbini Ward who received full-sponsorship in 2013.

She scored 386 marks in KCPE and joined Nakuru girls' where she scored B plus.
