According to Karuri ward bodaboda operators chairperson, Moses Kariuki, 480 members of his team operate without valid driving licenses.

Kariuki attributes this outright non-compliance to NTSA Regulations 2015 for motorcycles, on failure by government to sensitise operators on the regulations.

"Most of the riders here are unware of the government regulations in this mode of transport. NTSA needs to create awareness campaigns to address this issue," said Kariuki.

Kariuki also noted that most riders lack PSV and third-party insurances required by the government.

Karuri ward MCA, Martin Njoroge, said he is helping motorcycle riders go through training and acquire necessary documents.

"I am facilitating for their training and so far more than 30 operators are having interim driving licenses," stated Njoroge.
