Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko caused a fuse in Mombasa for ridding a matatu from Likoni to Ukunda. Sonko enjoyed his ride on Sunday with common Kenyans and had a chat with some about the reality of using public service vehicles.
His connection with the coastal city was evident in the warm welcome that he received as members of the public noticed he was aboard a local matatu. The crowd shouted his name and crowded around the matatu to have a glimpse of the governor.
The excitement came after the flamboyant Governor led 'Team Wanjiku' during a rally at Alidina Grounds in Badi Twalib's Jomvu Constituency, Mombasa County, on Sunday.
He said that the team targets to air the grievances affecting common mwananchi who is forgotten by most leaders busy associating themselves with either President Uhuru Kenyatta or Deputy President William Ruto. The host was former Jomvu MCA Kariza Nzai.
"There is too much political talk about 2022 yet there are immediate issues that need addressing like the cost of unga. These are the things that Wanjiku wants addressed right now. We are here to ensure these issues are addressed," said Sonko during a press release to media houses.
