Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has pledged to sponsor the education of six needy students from different parts of the nation.
Through the Victor Wanyama Foundation, the football star had initially promised to sponsor only two students, a girl, and boy but later changed its plans after receiving several requests.
The foundation has since noted that there are many genuine cases of students who want assistance hence decided to increase the number to cater for more.
In a statement released to the media, the foundation announced that it is glad to sponsor the students henceforth.
“We wish to announce winners of the scholarship. The six students will receive full educational scholarships for the four years they will be in high school and also any other necessary support to ensure they are fully settled in school and working hard to achieve their goals,” a statement from the foundation said.
The football star has been committed to supporting local talents in the country. He has been at the forefront when it comes to charity projects, which had made millions to fall in love with him.
Wanyama, also Harambee Stars' captain, is currently constructing an academy in Busia County. He intends to use the academy to provide students with an opportunity to nurture their talents.
