The suspected criminal has been on police radar for months before he was killed. Four other suspected gangsters escaped from the scene of the incident after the police stormed the place.

The criminals were reportedly attacking residents of Wa Maka area with Machetes before the police ambushed them. Confirming the incident, Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich said that they resorted to shooting the suspects after they refused to surrender.

The police also said that they had attempted to attack them before they opened fire thereby shooting them dead.

One of the suspects was killed on the spot while the rest managed to escape from the scene. The officers later took the body of the deceased to the Coast General Hospital mortuary pending investigations.

The incident comes at a time when cases of crime have been rampant across the region. Police have been launching a manhunt for several suspects who have been reportedly terrorising and killing innocent civilians. The rise of knife-wielding gangs has since made the police to intensify their activities in the county.
