In a notice issued on Thursday, EACC issued suspected landowners in Kisumu to present documents showing their ownership of various parcels belonging to Kenya Railways.

The commission had asked the owners to submit documents of ownership as well as those of transfer to the commission for the verification of their ownership of the land with immediate effect.

The anti-graft agency CEO Twalib Mbarak revealed that the commission has embarked on the probe into the allocation of around 33 parcels of land as well as the sub division.

“In the exercise of the powers conferred under Section 27 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act, 2003, the commission requires owners and occupiers of the property to… submit documents,” read the notice in part, as quoted by Standard.

The crackdown has narrowed down to different land owners in the region.

The big wigs who have been affected by the crackdown include Kisumu Senator Fred Outa, Nairobi businessman William Osewe, Eala MP Oburu Oginga and Former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo among others.

The commission new order comes after the Kenya Railways embarked on the demolition of properties believed to have been erected on land belonging to it.
