Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i to officially join presidential race ahead of 2022 polls.
Dr Matiang'i has remained silent over his expected political move, only opting to concentrate on his duties as the coordinator of government functions.
But despite his silence, the powerful minister is assembling a team of leaders across Gusii where he's first intending to unite them ahead of 2022 polls.
And on Saturday at West Mugirango, Momanyi said Dr Matiang'i should unite Abagusii before reaching out other communities for support.
"As Abagusii, we have numbers. Waziri what you have to do, declare the interest first, unite the community and other things will be easier.
"We have been in politics for long. We shall thereafter talk to other regions for realignments. That is how we shall easily take it. You have worked well and we shall support you," he said.
Initially, Dr Matiang'i was intending to run for Nyamira gubernatorial seat but he has since gone slow. Currently, he's reportedly keen to join national politics.
On Wednesday last week, he met over 14 MPs from Nyamira and Kisii Counties at his Harambee House offices where he promised to complete stalled projects.
