Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has warned Nairobians of fake Nairobi County Officers selling market stalls to unsuspecting traders.
In a post on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Sonko said; "Beware of rogue county officers selling out market stalls to unsuspecting traders. It has come to our attention that senior County Government officials are collaborating with crooks to illegally sell and allocate stalls to unsuspecting traders in various markets still under construction," he said.
The county boss noted that some people have already been conned by the fake county officers.
Sonko, who is doing renovations on various markets around Nairobi said that those who have already paid for a stall in New Wakulima, Westlands, City park Parklands, Mwariro, Kirandini and Dandora stadium have been conned of their money.
"All these markets are under the management of the County Government of Nairobi in consultation and conjunction with the National Government and the first stall allocation priority shall be given to traders whose stalls/markets were demolished to pave way for the construction of these mentioned facilities," he said.
The city boss cautioned Nairobi traders against bribing county officials to be given stall spaces. He revealed that after allocation to those whose stalls were demolished, the remaining ones will be awarded in a fairway.
