Tiaty Member of Parliament William Kamket has weighed in on the current relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Monday, Kamket opined that the handshake between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga threw Ruto in the opposition.
He wondered why DP Ruto seems to struggle to be part of the government when Raila enjoys the privileges of a government official. He argued that it is clear all is not well in the Jubilee government if the current state of affairs is anything to go by.
“We are living in times where the deputy president is the leader of the opposition, and the man supposed to be the opposition, is now in government,” he said.
The truce between Raila and Uhuru has caused jitters in Ruto’s camp. A section of Ruto's allies has questioned whether President Uhuru will honour his promise to support the DP in the upcoming 2022 general election.
Ruto and Raila have continued to launch incessant attacks against each other as the 2022 presidential race takes shape. Ruto has been accusing the veteran politician of using his 2018 handshake with Uhuru to attempt to destroy the Jubilee party as we approach the 2022 polls.
