A 17-year-old boy was on Monday arraigned before a Naivasha Court and charged for stabbing to death a 16-year-old girl.
The court heard that the Form Three student from Nanyuki High School stabbed the girl on November 29, 2019 at Mirera, near Naivasha Town.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) officers filed an application before Court seeking to be granted more time to investigate the matter.
Standard reports that Corporal Collins Shikuku from Naivasha CID office had asked the court to detain the suspect noting that they needed more time to conduct a mental check up on the boy and also record witness statements.
The minor who did not take a plea did not oppose the DCI officer’s application to have him detained in police custody.
Naivasha Chief Magistrate Kennedy Bidali gave the officers nine days to investigate the matter and ordered that the boy be detained at Naivasha Police Station.
Magistrate Bidali further directed that a report on the boy’s age and his mental condition should be availed in court in the next case hearing.
The case will be heard on December 11.
The boy was arrested last week after the police were informed that a body of a girl, Valarie Njeri, was found dumped at the doorstep of the girl’s parents.
Police officers arrested the minor after a trail of blood from where the body was found was traced to his bedroom.
The girl who went missing on Thursday was found stabbed twenty-six times and the throat was slit after she allegedly rejected the boy’s sexual advances while at his parents’ home.
