The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has summoned Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri over his utterances on Deputy President William Ruto's woes with his official residence in Mombasa.
The lawmaker recorded a statement at the DCI offices in Nakuru. He was issued with the summon over the remarks he made in connection with the alleged lock down of DP Ruto's official residence in Mombasa.
Confirming the summon, the lawmaker on Monday said that he had recorded the statement. He also said that the police ordered him to surrender his firearm after he was grilled for hours over the matter
"It is true I was summoned and I have just finished recording a statement. It is about my address to press concerning how government officials are treating DP Ruto. I was responding to what was reported in the media and I wonder why I am being victimised. I have also been told to surrender my firearms which I will,” he said.
Nakuru DCIO Benson Mutie has also confirmed that he legislator was summoned in connection with the issue.
The lawmaker kicked off a political storm over the weekend when he said that he is ready to be jailed if that is what it means to support DP Ruto.
