The grade three pupil at Ndeletei Primary School was heading home from school when he spotted one of his relatives in an ox-drawn cart.

The ox-cart was transporting water to Katisaa area where the boy requested to accompany his relative.

However, on heading back, the bulls cruised at high speed and the cart toppled over.

According to Thatha's assistant chief Charles King'angi, the cart was lighter thus overturning and throwing the boy off balance.

"The cart was empty thus lighter. The boy was thrown down and his head was smashed by the ox-drawn cart thus losing his life on the spot," said King'angi on phone.

King'angi urged parents and guardians to be careful and ensure the safety of their kids stating that ox-carts are dangerous and need to be handled with extra care.

He noted that the body of the boy was picked by the police and taken to Matuu Mediance mortuary for preservation.
