Through his lawyers Wandabwa advocates, Chiloba moved to court on September 16 protesting his termination from IEBC.

Weighing-in on the same on Saturday, Atandi celebrated Chiloba's dismissal, stating that it was the best punishment for the latter who has been accused of bungling the 2017 presidential polls.

"You don't bungle an election, cause loss of lives, loss of public resources and expect to continue serving with impunity. Dismissal was your best pill,"Atandi tweeted.

In the suit, Chiloba is seeking a Sh52.5 million compensation for his dismissal, arguing that the process used to fire him was irregular and therefore need for compensation.

“The claimant’s claim arises from a series of actions by the Respondent (IEBC) that were illegal, irregular, unfair and unjustifiable which can be categorised into (1) compulsory leave (2) suspension and (3) termination,” part of Chiloba's petition was quoted by Nation.

"The claimant was not afforded an opportunity to be heard regarding the intention to send him on compulsory leave, before it was effected. The decision to send the claimant on compulsory leave lacked a legal basis as there is no provision in the Human Resources and Administration Policies and Procedures Manual that provides for compulsory leave,” Chiloba said in his petition.
