The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominations in Kibra were conducted in a free and fair manner, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo has said.
The lawmaker, who spoke on Monday, said that claims that the nominations were bungled are untrue and ill-motivated.
He said that a section of their opponents want to use underhand tactics to gain an advantage over the candidate ODM has fronted for the seat.
The MP affirmed that no one was handpicked, adding that their rivals are in for a rude shock in the race to succeed the late former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
”ODM did a perfect and peaceful nomination,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Odhiambo also claimed that Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Eliud Owalo is working with Deputy President William Ruto to spoil for ODM in the race. The Orange Party nominated Imran Okoth, who is the brother to the late Ken Okoth to contest for the seat.
The Raila Odinga-led party has since refunded Sh250, 000 to each of its aspirants after it emerged that the nomination exercise was not conducted in a free and fair manner.
