Police in Naivasha have launched a manhunt for members of a gang that has allegedly been robbing Kenyans leaving banks in Naivasha town.
The law enforces have also been notified that the hang has as well been breaking into vehicles parked in parking lots and stealing from them.
The police have over the last two months received several such claims, the latest being on Thursday where a trader's vehicle was broken into and Sh200,000 stolen.
The victim had withdrawn the money from Naivasha Commercial Bank and parked the vehicle outside Diplomat House when the thugs struck, apparently using a master key.
The police are now probing the possibilities of the thugs working with bank attendants, or have been following their victims before striking.
“We suspect that the suspects are either working with some bank staff or are trailing their victims from the banks before robbing them,” the source told the Standard on Friday.
Naivasha Police Boss Samuel Waweru confirmed the incident and another where a vehicle was broken into at Buffalo Mall, adding that the officers are banking on CCTV footages to nab the criminals.
“The CCTV footage has come in handy in our investigations and it’s a matter of time before we corner the suspects,” said the police boss.
