Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has insisted that he has what it takes to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
A section of Kitui professionals has, however, reminded Musyoka not to bank on ODM leader Raila Odinga as he seeks to rise to power.
Speaking in Mwingi town on Sunday, on behalf of Mwingi Professionals Forum, Campbell Munyambu said that the ODM Leader is not a reliable man as far as endorsements are concerned.
He noted that Raila, who also doubles as African Union Special Envoy, is likely to join the contest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he completes his second and final term in power.
Munyambu said that Raila has proven on several occasions that he is angry for power. He also said that the Kamba political needs to read the signs as things unfold so that he doesn’t find himself desperate when that time comes.
“We would expect Raila to support Kalonzo for the presidency because he (Kalonzo) has supported him twice for the presidency. However, we are telling our leader not to bank on Raila’s support because he seems to be greedy with power,” Munyambu said, as quoted by Standard.
Kalonzo has maintained that he will not play second fiddle to any candidate in 2022. He said that he will go for the nation’s top seat no matter what happens. Kalonzo is expected to lock horns with Deputy President William Ruto and ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi.
