It was not business as usual in Kisii town for the better part of Thursday morning following a peaceful protest by women in the town.
A human rights activists group, Heart for Change, led by CEO Lilian Marwa lead a group of women to protest against increased defilement and murder cases of young girls in Kisii.
The peaceful protest was joined by Kisii residents who are calling on security agencies to curb the vice that is threatening to eat up the future of young girls.
"Men raping young girls and killing them must stop. Police should also be vigilant to ensure any man found raping young girls is apprehended and arraigned in court to be sent to jail without mercy," said Marwa in her address.

She appealed to parents to stop solving rape cases at the community level adding that rape victims must get justice through the systems of the law.
Marwa regretted that clan elder in the villages have been accepting cheap gifts from rape suspects to solve cases and end up denying the victims justice.
Kisii County Health Minister Sarah Omache who was also among the protesters said it is high time residents join hands to fight violence against young girls and women.
"The rate at which young girls are being raped is high. It is important for the authorities to take action on men chasing young girls," said Omache.
