In a joint press statement on Friday, the government announced that the four vehicles were stolen from the UK on different dates.

“These vehicles will be received in the UK by police authorities. UK police will undertake further law enforcement measures and reunite the vehicles with their rightful owners,” read part of the statement as quoted by K24

KRA, the National Police Service and the Kenya Ports Authority were the government agencies quoted in the press statement.

The vehicles were stolen between November 2018 and April 2019.

They are; Range Rover Vogue Autobiography, stolen from Berkshire, Range Rover Sport stolen from London, Mercedes Benz GLE 250D AMG stolen from Berkshire and Range Rover Sport stolen from Oxfordshire.

The government said that it has been working hard to make sure that it breaks the international car-theft body.

It also noted that those involved have been using the Mombasa port to smuggle the vehicles into the country.

According to the police, more than 21 vehicles stolen from the UK were nabbed at the Mombasa port.

“In returning the vehicles, we wish to send a strong message to criminal networks in East Africa and beyond, that the port of Mombasa will not be used as a conduit for illicit trade,” noted the statement.
