Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is affiliated to the Liberal International organisation.
The Liberal International (LI) is the world federation of liberal and progressive democratic political parties.
ODM being a social democratic party, based on its ideology statement, chose to be part of the global liberal political wing.
"Liberals are committed to build and safeguard free, fair and open societies, in which they seek to balance the fundamental values of liberty, equality and community, and in which no-one is enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity. Liberalism champions the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals," the organisation states in its mission statement.
The LI states that it is out to disperse power and create a conducive environment for personal development.
This is in line with ODM's plan to build a democratic society and provide a better and dignified life.
"Liberalism acknowledge and respect the right to freedom of conscience and the right of everyone to develop their talents to the full. Liberalism aims to disperse power, to foster diversity and to nurture creativity," the LI statement adds.
It also champions for free trade and development as well as respect of human rights.
As the Kenyan political outfit continues pursuing a progressive Pan-African and foreign policy, LI is a strategic partner.
