According to Mavoloni location chief Francis Keli, the device was found by residents near where river Muti and Thika meet.

He told journalists that police officers from Kisiiki police station were notified about the device and visited the scene.

"I was notified about a suspicious device in my location, I visited the scene and confirmed the reports. I called the police from Kisiiki who arrived and took the device," said Keli.

Specialists from Nairobi have also been alerted and are expected to arrive and examine the bomb before their next course of action.

Kisiiki police have taken custody of the suspected explosive.

A similar device was discovered two months ago in the same area at Nthungululu village near the Assistant chief's office.

This is the third explosive to be discovered in a span of three years where chief Keli noted that there's a need for security agents to conduct a proper search in the area to recover and destroy all explosives for the safety of the ignorant but curious generation.
