A man accused of killing his wife was on Tuesday arraigned before the Nakuru High Court.
Joseph Ngigi, is accused of murdering his wife Lucy Waithera, on December 31, 2019 in Molo town.
Appearing before Justice Joel Ngugi, the court directed that the accused be taken to Nakuru Level Five Hospital for mental assessment, before he is charged with murder.
“The suspect should be escorted to the Nakuru Level Five Hospital for mental assessment to confirm whether he is fit to stand trial,” Justice Ngugi said as quoted by Nation.
On the material date, the court heard that the accused used a machete to chop off his wife’s head, after the two quarreled at her salon in Molo town.
Waithera's body was found lying at her salon by clients who visited the salon seeking for services from the deceased.
The suspect went into hiding after committing the crime, but was later arrested in Tigoni, Limuru on December 31, 2019.
The case is set to be mentioned on January 20.
