In what could be widening rift within Jubilee party, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has poked holes into President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.
The Jubilee party has been struggling with infighting, with a section of leaders divided on who to support as a successor to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
On Saturday, a furious Murkomen accused security agencies of failing government, adding that it had turned to assassination and extra-judicial killings.
"Benson is lying there because it's a demonstration of a failure of system of government that was supposed to support the rule of law. My message to President Uhuru Kenyatta and I am very clear in my mind.
"Security will not be managed in the country through assassinations and extra-judicial killings. It won't solve any problem in this country. We should not allow people who run the security system to accept a procedure that is a process in solving problems," he said.
His message comes amid ongoing controversy over the alleged assassination plot against DP William Ruto, a claim which has been dismissed by the state.
Last week, former State House Digital Communication Director Dennis Itumbi was arrested for allegedly being the author of the alleged assassination letter which implicated several state officials.
Mr Itumbi works within DP Ruto's office, a move that has further split the nation. Deputy President William Ruto is yet to record a statement over the matter.
