Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Kipchumba Sudi has hit out at Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos over his utterances against DP William Ruto and his allies concerning the Building Bridges Initiative(BBI) debate.
Speaking during an interdenominational prayer meeting held at Kapsigilai, Cherangany constituency in Trans Nzoia County on Saturday, Sudi said he, as a Marakwet, knows the community's issues more.
According to the vocal lawmaker, Marakwet people need a leader who is close to the government so as to get their problems fixed.
"We as Marakwet who are familiar with Marakwet problems, we want to stay close to the government. We want to look for someone who will stay close to the state so that we move out of poverty slavery, poor roads, our children to go to schools and problems of Pokot and Marakwet to come to an end. (Sisi kama wa Marakwet wenye tunajua shida za upande wa Marakwet, tunataka tukae karibu na serikali, tunataka tufafte mtu mwenye atakaribia serikali, ili tutoke kwa utumwa ya umaskini na barabara mbaya, watoto wetu waende shule, shida ya Pokot na Marakwet iishe," Sudi, a close ally of DP Ruto said
The MP who was speaking in DP Ruto's presence also noted that Tolgos' dalliance with Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) leader Raila Odinga would not help his people of Elgeyo Marakwet.
This comes barely a day after Tolgos, elected on a Jubilee ticket in both 2013 and 2013 general elections, declared that he won't support DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
He further urged Tangatanga group to respect Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta if they want to be part of BBI.
