Geoffrey Kibet, a 36-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his 60-year-old mother.
Kibet who hails from Mosomborik village in Kericho County is said to have committed the act while drunk.
Confirming the incidence, Chepcholiet sub-location Assistant Chief Stephen Korir said that the threatened to kill his mother if she didn't comply with his demands.
“The man then slapped his mother on the face, forced her to the floor of the house while threatening to slash her with a panga he was armed with and begun raping her from 8 PM up to midnight,” Korir said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
At the time of the incident, the elderly mother was home alone.
The area assistant chief noted that Kibet's father had travelled to Kuresoi to see his relatives.
After the act, the man is said to have gone to his house to sleep. His mother rushed to a neighbour's house where she sought help.
She was advised to report to the chief who later reported to the police who arrested the suspect while drinking at a neighbour's house.
The man is said to be a serial divorcee as he divorced up to 8 wives.
“He chased away his eighth wife together with his child last week,” said the assistant chief as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The man is being held at Chepseon police station.
