“When Parliament resumes, I shall raise the issue as we do not understand the formality and procedure used,” she said.

The MP claims that the Elimu Scholarship Programme is sidelining some constituencies in the disbursement of funds to needy students, citing her own constituency as one of the casualties.

According to the vocal Nakuru legislator, there is no clear understanding of the formality and procedure used to support bright students from poor backgrounds under the programme.

She insinuated that the actually needy students might have been left out in the process that is supposed to give these kids a chance at secondary school education and beyond, an opportunity that they would otherwise not have.

"Some pupils are bright but needy yet they don't get the Elimu scholarship and that is why we are questioning the formality and procedure used in selecting the same. And on this one I will table in parliament once we resume," she said.

The MP was speaking in Gilgil Town after disbursing Sh3.8 million towards supporting 88 needy students in various secondary schools.

Elimu Scholarship is a government-led programme funded by the World Bank through Equity Bank meant to help needy but bright students access secondary education.
