“The launch will be presided over by the Vice Chief of Defense Forces Lieutenant General Robert Kibochi,” part of the statement read as quoted by Citizen TV.

The recruitment was to happen earlier but was later on postponed over a disagreement on centers of recruitment.

Members of the Parliamentary Defense and Foreign Relations Committee failed to reach a unanimous decision with Defense CS Raychelle Omamo forcing the process to be canceled.

The Committee members opposed the move to have the recruitment take place at the sub-county level. They explained that some of the youths may miss out on the exercise.

The recruitment which will kick off on Wednesday is set to last up to December 16, 2019.

KDF Deputy Director of Public Communications Bogita Ongeri pointed out that the following recruitment will happen at the  Defense headquarters; general service officers, cadets, specialist officers, tradesmen, and tradeswomen.

Recruitment of General duty recruits and Defense Forces constables will be conducted by KDF teams at the sub-county level.

The recruits who would have qualified will be informed through an advertisement which will be published in the newspaper between December 23 and December 29.
