According to Lesiit, the complainant has failed to prove that there is a conflict of interest in the hearing of the case.

Lessit has been faulted of biasedness as the family of the Otieno, who was Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s lover, seeks for answers following her cold-blood murder.

“No reasons of conflict interest were advanced to warrant the court to recuse itself,” Justice Lesiit said on Friday, as quoted by Daily Nation.

The student, who was seven months pregnant was killed on the night of September 3, 2018, after she went missing for some days.

Obado, his personal assistant Michael Oyamo, and county clerk Casper Obiero were arrested over the links to the mysterious but they denied the claims.

The county boss was later released pending a probe into the case. Obiero and Oyamo faulted Lessit after she released Obado on bail only to deny them freedom. They insisted that they are innocent.

In response, Lessit said that the decision to free the county boss will not affect the case as far as fairness is concerned. She assured them she will deliver an unbiased ruling once a probe into the matter is completed.

She further said that the release of the second-term county boss was based on the evidence presented in court and nothing else as alleged by the duo.

The trial of the suspects will kick off on October 9.
