Members of the Siaya County Assembly have sought Auditor General Edward Ouko's attention regarding a deal between the county government and the Siaya County Medium and Small Enterprises (SME) Umbrella Association.
The MCAs through the Public Accounts and Investments Committee have raised alarm over the alleged loss of Sh104 million between 2015 and 2018.
The committee wants to be furnished with the registration documents of the SME which it says was awarded tenders of Sh42 and 65 million to supply ECD centre furniture in the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 financial years.
“The committee, therefore, recommended that the executive should provide the registration documents of the said Siaya County SME umbrella association detailing but not limited to; list of names of the members, the registration certificates, the affirmative action certificates and the list of officials of the associations,” committee Chair William Kinyanyi said as quoted by the Standard.
The committee also wants Ouko to probe an alleged illegal usage of Sh95.7 million towards medical equipment purchase and questionable annual allocation of finances for revenue enhancement and automation.
They want the processes, procedures, and plans undertaken by Governor Cornel Rasanga's government in line with the revenue automation audited within the next 90 days.
"The matter has remained unresolved and the committee, therefore, asked the finance executive to report on the initiation of the special audit as recommended herein within 90 days of the adoption of this report,” reads the report in part.
