Speaking in Kabondo Kasipul during a fundraiser in support of a local high school, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) slammed the country's second in command, calling him a rejectionist who is keen on taking the country back.

"This group is a group of rejectionists. Thes are reactionaries. These are people who want to take society backwards instead of forwards, " the Siaya senator said. (1:00-1:09)

Orengo held out hope that the BBI project would succeed in spite of the stiff resistance that it was facing from the deputy president and his henchmen.

DP Ruto has not come out clearly on whether he will throw his weight behind the initiative.

Political observers say that politicians vocal about their opposition to the BBI actually echo the position of the deputy president.

A few days ago he said that the initiative run the risk of being compromised by self-serving individuals, an indirect reference to veteran opposition leader and ODM supremo Raila Odinga.

Mr Odinga has called for patience as the BBI committee puts final touches on the report set to be handed over to president Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Critics of the BBI report who are supporters of the deputy president contend that the report is a step towards creating a bloated executive to accommodate Raila Odinga.
