Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has warned the public against people using a fake Facebook account to swindle funds from the public in the name of giving them jobs.
Through a post his Facebook page on Sunday, Barasa asked Kenyans to be cautious lest they fall into the scammers' trap.
"I wish to warn and alert the general public against a group of cyber scammers and swindlers who are using a Face Book account similar to mine to solicit funds in pretense to offer Job opportunities to young unsuspecting fellows (sic))," said the MP in part of the post.
He also noted that this was the third time he was issuing the disclaimer over the swindlers.
"I want to be very categorical that in my right senses it's illogical for me or any distinguished leader of my calibre to ask for money for one to secure a job opportunity, it has been my norm and practise to scout around for job opportunities and offer for them to qualified job seekers for free. Do not yield into their elaborate scheme to swindle the public (sic)," noted Barasa.
He further said that his lawyers, security agencies and communication team are working around the clock to narrow down on the perpetrators.
The legislator also asked those who might have already fallen trap to the ploy to report to a nearby police station.
