Since Wednesday, social media has been awash of claims that two MPs from Gusii fought at Harambee House, in the offices of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.
Dr Matiang'i hosted 14 MPs from Gusii region where the discussion centred around development both in Nyamira and Kisii Counties amid increased tours of DP William Ruto to the region.
And sources at the meeting claimed that Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka engaged in a physical fight with Bomachoge-Chache MP Alfa Miruka.
One MP who requested anonymity said that the two had differed on the number of projects per constituency with Miruka, a key ally of Ruto saying that Onyonka should not be given more since he's been in parliament for long.
"It was a little of misunderstanding. We all went to lobby for development and differing in such meetings isn't such a big issue," said the MP.
But on Friday, Gusii Parliamentary Group Chairman Joash Nyamoko downplayed the claims arguing that none of the MPs fought while attending the meeting.
"It is true that we visited CS Matiang'i and we only discussed about development. None of us went there to fight as it's being claimed. The meeting was peaceful," he said.
"Those youths spreading propaganda to taint names of some leaders should stop. Let them write facts. Nobody fought," he said.
Dr Matiang'i was hosting the leaders from Nyamira and Kisii Counties jointly for the first time since he was elevated to chair powerful National Development and Communication Cabinet Committee.
Throughout the last four months, a number of MPs have been backing DP William Ruto with some pressing the powerful minister to go for Presidency.
