Reports indicate that the suspects are believed to have conducted robberies in Nyeri, Mukurweini and Mathira constituencies.

According to County Police Commander Adiel Nyange, his officers had been investigating the suspects for months, before finally arresting them in their hideout.

“We tracked them down for several months and they have been working to sell these stolen goods from their hideouts in Nairobi and Kiambu, but we have managed to apprehend the masterminds,” he said.

The suspects are also alleged to have had a hand in the death of a watchman, who was killed in August at a church in Ichuga Village, Mathira Constituency.

“So far we are still conducting further investigations but once concluded we shall arraign the suspects in court,” Nyange noted.

A digital literacy programme laptop issued by the government to schools, was among the items recovered from the operation.

“One of the suspects admitted he had stolen it with the intention of reprogramming it for use for his children, which is unfortunate to use stolen goods to educate children," he added.

Locals have been urged to be vigilant and cooperate with police officers to nab such suspects.
