Seven people were on Tuesday killed and unknown number seriously injured during alleged retaliatory inter-clan clashes in Mandera.
In what is believed to be a retaliatory attack by a group of locals in Mandela, the North Eastern regional commissioner, Mohamed Birik was quoted by Punch saying that the 7 were killed in Banissa constituency.
It has also been reported that police officers had collected the seven bodies while a number of unknown people are reported to have been seriously injured during the incidence and are lying in the bush.
The attack is seen as a retaliation of an Ethiopian village attack where two people were killed and 100 camels stolen, as one clan attacked another.
The commissioner noted that that security had been deployed in the area to restore calm and order.
Hostility and tension have been building high in the area for the past two weeks following the Ethiopian village attack.
"The anger spill to Kenya where they have killed at least seven locals in retaliation. We have also deployed more security personnel to ensure calmness and justice," said Birik as quoted by Punch.
