The cremation of the late Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth has been stopped pending the hearing and determination of a case in court.
Ken Okoth's family members have been asked to wait before they could cremate or bury him.
A case filed at the Nairobi Court by a Nairobi MCA, Anne Muthoni Thumbi reveals that Ken sired a child with her.
In the case, the late MP's mother Angeline Okoth, his wife Monica Okoth, and Lee Funeral Home have been listed as the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respondents respectively.
“That in the interim a temporary injunction be and is hereby issued restraining the 1st and 2nddefendant (Okoth’s mother and wife), either by themselves, their servants or agents from conducting the burial, interment, cremation and or in any manner whatsoever dispose of the body or remains of the late Mr. Ken Okoth pending the hearing and determination of the instant application interparties,” read the directive as quoted by Citizen.
The case is scheduled on August 9 before Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. Obura.
Ken Okoth passed away last week on Friday at the Nairobi Hospital from cancer.
His death has caused a lot of misunderstanding between his wife, his maternal family and his paternal family. The three sides have each came up with conditions on his final sending.
His wife wants him cremated, his mother wants his buries at his parents home while his father's side wants him buried at his late father's home.
