In a tweet on Wednesday, the former Starehe MP aspirant differed with Alai over the remarks, adding that Ruto should have bailed him out if they are friends.

"That's not what you told me when l came to see you at Central Police Station. I wasn't even aware you're close to @WilliamsRuto. However, both you @RobertAlai and @OleItumbi have a right to legal representation and due process. Alai, if Ruto is your friend, he should have bailed you!" he said.

This comes after Alai noted that he was arrested over his perceived closeness to Ruto. The blogger further argued that State House Secretary of Innovations and Diaspora Communications Dennis Itumbi was arrested over the same reason.

"The current arrests are targeting people thought to be close to DP @WilliamsRuto. In the whole of my interrogation, I was NEVER asked anything to do with terrorism. It was all "who do you communicate within Ruto's office" etc... The arrest of @OleItumbi is WRONG!" said Alai.

Itumbi was arrested on Wednesday by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) over a fake letter that sparked claims of an assassination plot against DP Ruto.
