Speaking in Olesos in Nandi on Saturday, the lawmaker warned Jubilee Party members allegedly opposed to Deputy President Ruto of unspecified consequences in the near future.

Responding to the remarks on Tuesday, Maanzo termed them 'pride-related threats from a person who thinks that he is better and unique than the others, but who needs to know that he is not'.

He added that Ruto's allies should stop manipulating people into supporting his presidential bid, stating that each Kenyan has a right to support whomever they please.

"Those are threats. But we too and everybody else have their people and their mother. They should stop behaving like their candidate is the best. Let them know that everybody can't be forced to support Ruto (Hizo ni vitisho. Hata sisi na kila mtu ako na watu wao na mama yake. Wawache kujifanya candidate wao ndiye mzuri. Wajue kila mtu hawezi support Ruto kwa lazima)," he said.

Maanzo, who was elected on a Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) party ticket, made the remarks during an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Tuesday.

According to Maanzo, Cherargei's remarks bring his career and credentials as a trained lawyer under question.

"He has studied law, he should not he speaking in that manner (Yeye amesomea sheria, hafai kuongea namna hiyo)," he added.

Cherargei has since been summoned by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) amid attacks and bashings from fellow politicians regarding the remarks.
