Speaking to members of the press on Friday at the Musalia Mudavadi Centre, Wetangula impressed upon Kenyans the importance of the once in a decade exercise.

He said that Kenyans will be counted based on where they spend their night in the duration of the exercise and urged them to show up.

"Remember that you will be counted based on where you spend the night of 24th August 2019. Please don't be left behind in this very critical national exercise. Be counted so that you can count, " the Ford-Kenya supremo said

Kenyans across the 47 counties will be counted starting Saturday.

The government announced this week that preparations for the census were nearly complete and urged Kenyans to make themselves available for the exercise.

It will be conducted in the evening from 6 p.m.

The census is an exercise anchored in law and it is conducted with the express purpose of helping the government in economic planning.

President Uhuru Kenyatta while launching the countdown to the census said that enough security will be deployed in order to prevent disruptions.
