Veteran journalist and socio-political commentator David Makali has urged the Rwanda Investigations Bureau (RIB) to publish the names of 8 Kenyans it says that it has arrested.

In a tweet on Friday, Mr David Makali contended that publishing the names would help ascertain whether the 8 individuals said to be Kenyans are indeed Kenyans.

"Please publish their names and faces the way @DCI_Kenya does. We want to know if they are truly Kenyans..., " David Makali's tweet read.

According to RIB, the 8 Kenyans were part of an organised group that also included 3 Rwandans and 1 Ugandan.

"#RIB arrested an organized group of 08 Kenyans, 03 Rwandans and 01 Ugandan over a cyber fraud attempt on Equity bank #Rwanda.This group was arrested while in the process of hacking into the bank system to steal money from clients' accounts, " RIB had tweeted.

According to Rwandan investigative body, the group run to Rwanda after defrauding Equity banks in both Kenya and Uganda.

The investigative body expressed its gratitude to members of the public for sharing the information that led to the arrests of the suspected criminals.

The investigations have been done and the case given to organ responsible for prosecutions so that the suspected criminals can be charged in a court of law. 

At the time of writing this article, Nairobi had not reacted to the reports that 8 of its citizens had been arrested for fraud in Rwanda.
