A bodaboda operator who is receiving treatment for gunshot wounds has accused a senior police officer from Wajir of shooting him four times.

According to NTV, the victim was allegedly not in good terms with the officer who allegedly shot him.

The victim, Roble Omar, claimed that he together with his family returned from a journey to find that four police officers had raided his home.

The officers then proceeded to question Omar on what he was carrying, but apparently they were not convinced that he was telling the truth and consequently staged an ambush outside his compound.

Omar was shot four times during the ambush; twice on his leg and once for every arm.

"We were coming from a journey in Basiri, they asked us what we were carrying, and then we said we had brought things for my father and another old man. They said that is not what you were carrying, say the truth. (Sisi tumetoka safari kutoka Basiri, sasa wakasema mlikua mumebeba nini, wakatuuliza swali, tukasema tumeletea baba yangu na mzee ingine. Wakasema hamukuwa mumebeba hiyo kitu, museme ukweli mulikua munabeba)," Omar told NTV.

He challenged the police officers to produce evidence in the court of his involvement in illegal activities.

According to an elder from the region, there was a grudge between the victim and the officer who shot him.

"Despite having some previous grudges between the boy and the sergeant, that this boy was shot both sides of the arm," he stated.

The area Member of County Assembly Ibrahim Abass condemned the incident and called for justice to be served.
