Speaking during an interview on Sidebar show on NTV on Tuesday, Koech noted that the narrative is dangerous and aimed at creating a rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy.

He argued that maybe Kiunjuri was fired for under-performing in his roles at the Ministry.

"Mwangi Kiunjuri was not fired for being on the side of the Deputy President. It is a very dangeruos statement, first because what Onyonka wants to do is disassociate the president from his deputy," he said.

Appearing on the same show, political analyst Prof Herman Manyora said Kiunjuri saw his sacking coming and was prepared.

"Mwangi Kiunjuri saw it coming...He must have been prepared, I don't think he had the stuff people normally keep in offices for a long time; photographs of the wife and children," Manyora said

On his part, nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura argued that Kiunjuri had a game-plan which was to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Mt. Kenya region, adding that the plan might have cost him his job.

"He knew his game-plan that he was very much interested in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta in the Mt. Kenya Region," senator Isaac Mwaura said
