Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has said that it is just a matter of time before he appoints a female deputy to assist him in running the affairs of the county.
In an interview with Daily Nation which was updated live on Facebook on Wednesday, Sonko claimed that he was waiting for legislation on an amendment bill that was being worked on by the Senate and the National Assembly committee to be passed.
He says the bill seeks to make some amendments to particular county government laws.
The vocal governor further revealed that there was a woman whom he had reserved for the position of the deputy governor and once the Parliament would be done with the aforementioned legislation process she would appoint her.
"Once they are through with it and it is tabled before the president for assent, I'll just appoint a deputy governor. I have got a very beautiful lady who is ready," said Sonko.
Governor Mike Sonko has been discharging his official duties without the help of a deputy after the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.
Polycarp Igathe, who was Nairobi's deputy governor resigned in January 2018. He cited mistrust from his boss as a reason why he quit the job.
Igathe had further noted that he did not want to abuse his constitutional mandate bestowed to him by the electorate by failing to discharge his duties.
