Central Organization of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli has declared that he is the third most powerful Kenyan after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

While addressing the press in Kakamega on Wednesday ahead of the January 18 Building Bridges Initiative meeting at Bukhungu Stadium, the veteran trade unionist said that he is 'a system.'

" I'm a system myself. I hope you know that. I managed to assemble 1 million people here and gave Musalia ( ANC leader) the seat. I this country, we are only three people. It is the President and national leader of this nation President  Uhuru Kenyatta. The other popular  person is this country is Raila Amollo Odinga. After that you come to Francis Atwoli. The rest are donkeys," said the COTU Secretary General.

Atwoli's statement comes at a time the Western region is divided ahead of the Bukhungu rally which is expected to be attended by the both President Uhuru and Raila Odinga. 

Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto have vowed to hold parallel meeting in Mumias even as they accuse the BBI forum of having no specific agenda. 

On Wednesday evening, police cancelled the permit for the Mumias meeting was is to be attended by ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his FORD Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula.

The COTU boss has however vowed to ensure that no parallel meeting will be held under his watch.
