The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party continued to record impressive results in mini polls, winning the latest contest in Wajir North.
The party's candidate Jimal Abdi bagged Batalu ward by-election on Thursday, in a contest that was closely fought.
The by-election attracted four candidates namely; Gedow Adan Hassan (Ford Kenya), Hassan Jimal Abdi (ODM), Ibrahim Noor Hussein (PDR), and Idhow Adan Ibrahim (Jubilee Party).
ODM took to Twitter to celebrate the latest victory, which comes a month after the Kibra by-election where Imran Okoth won.
"Congratulations Hon Jimal Abdi Hassan for winning the Batalu Ward seat in Wajir North Constituency. We are proud of you," the party said.
During the 2017 general election, IEBC declared Ibrahim Noor Hussein the winner with 1,099 votes.
However, Jimal Abdi, who came in second with 946 votes, took the battle to court, claiming his opponent had violated elections rules.
The case was ruled in Jimal's favour, but dragged after Noor moved up to the Supreme Court where he still lost.
The victory in Batalu ward is the second in Northern Frontier Districts (NFD) since ODM bagged Abakile ward in Dadaab constituency, Garissa.
"4th straight victory in two months for @TheODMparty this time in Batalu Ward, Wajir North Constituency. Congratulations Hon. Jimal Abdi, MCA Elect," tweeted Edwin Sifuna.
ODM also won in Ganda, Kilifi County, closing 2019 with significant results.
